CRAZY...but CUTE, Kennedy!!!

This girl loves to climb in anything, under anything, you wouldn't believe the predicaments I find her in. She'll climb all the way into a cabinet that is barely bigger than she is. She also loves the toilet so we have to keep a close eye on that one. She can clap, high five, wave (even say a form of Bye Bye with the wave sometimes), play hide and seek, shake her head "no", and gives kisses! Her hair is finally starting to lay down a little so the mohawk look is hopefully a thing of the past. We love her SO much!

Konrad...DETERMINED!

Konrad is a DETERMINED little boy. I love him to pieces, but I'll be okay when he outgrows his "give me what I want or I'll scream my head off" phase! Some of the things that trigger this would be getting put in his crib EVER, or yep, that's about it! Oh, and he doesn't want to be put in his car seat either and when he's ready for a bottle it better be ready for him. Konrad can cause his own kind of trouble...like for instance he can pull himself up on the dishwasher lid and hold onto the top rack. He WILL NOT leave a bow in Kennedy's hair, and makes his mission to remove it. Poor Kennedy, this is usually done with no mercy. (We don't put any more bows in her hair for her own safety). If he wants a toy he takes it, he has the weight advantage and he uses it! Konrad loves to crawl around and wrestle with Corbett and I love to watch the two of them interact.  Konrad can also wave (with a version of the words bye bye), high five, and has even taken a step several times and one time even took TWO STEPS!  His kisses are ALWAYS inappropriate (uses his tongue) but he is so fun to hug and cuddle!

Their First Duet

Honestly, if they get our musical talent this might be their best duet! Here's to hoping they get their talent from someone else!

Valentine's Day!

This Valentine's Day was pretty fun.  We were lucky enough to have Sandra offer to babysit while we went and got ice cream and watched a movie.  Corbett brought home this cute Valentine for Kennedy from preschool.

Skiing at Beaver!

Cody and Corbett have spent the winter skiing at Beaver Mountain just about every Saturday! They have had so much fun! Last time they went Corbett accidentally went off a little jump. I hear he landed it but it surprised him so he fell down. Corbett has really gotten the hang of it! He's got some cousins who show a lot of interest in how well he's doing!

Corbett turns 5!!

Happy Birthday to Corbett!  I hope it was a happy one for him because he got spoiled rotten!  I thought about titling this post "the birthday that wouldn't end!"  So we are of course very proud of our little 5-year-old.  He is such a great kid.  He is into asking a lot of questions lately, trying to figure things out.  He loves superheroes, and of course he is one, you know.  He's an excellent big brother and seldom has to be reminded how to interact with the babies.  He is so helpful!  If you've ever cooked for him you know he is the all time BEST compliment-giver.  He pours it on THICK.  Anything you make is the best food he's ever had.  He always remembers to say things like "these sure are good sandwiches," or "you make the best pancakes ever!"  Now whether or not he actually eats the food is a whole other matter.  We are just enjoying these years when he still thinks we're cool and is still sweet and loving toward us.
So for the birthday celebration...because he turned 5 this year he got to start off with a vacation to Salt Lake to Build-A-Bear with his Grandma & Grandpa Sorensen.  They stayed in a hotel and got to swim, play cards,  and go to Build-A-Bear!!  He made a Kung Fu Panda bear named Po, complete with soccer shoes, a snowboard, helmet, karate clothes, and a backpack to carry him in.  He had a blast!  Thanks Kim & Susan!!!

Of course Po had to have underwear...

Sunday we had a family party with my family (the usual...cake and ice cream, crowded house, etc.)
Monday was his actual birthday.  I had decided I would let him have a friend party this year but the time got away from me so on Saturday afternoon I decided I was not going to get invitations out and I just made phone calls to all the boys' parents to invite them to his party.  At that point I knew there would be a party but had no plan for the party.  We asked Corbett what kind of cake he wanted and he said a fireman cake.  So from there I asked for party ideas from my sister who suggested getting all the "loot" from the fire station such as hats, stickers, and coloring books.  However it turned out when she made a phone call to her friend whose husband works at the fire station, we were able to sign up for a tour of the fire station.  So off we went Monday afternoon, after having a piece of pizza we loaded up 12 boys (and Sarah) and headed to the fire station.  Afterward we came back to the house for ice cream and cake (and presents) and called it a party.  I can't believe it all came together so well at the last minute.  Corbett loved the fire station (Corbett's Grandma Sorensen is SUPER cool because she is an EMT in Rigby and goes with the fire trucks all the time, I think he pictures her climbing up tall buildings and single-handedly extinguishing fires while saving everyone!)
The craziness...Corbett had a big party!

the boys were so interested in the cool fire trucks!

birthday boy!

because it was his birthday Corbett got to put on the gear!

Cool fire truck cake!

The party went on...that evening Corbett's Grandma and Grandpa Thorson took him to out to dinner (as a tradition each year!).  It was a crazy fun birthday!  Can't believe he's 5!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!!
WHAT A YEAR!!! That I think sums up my feelings on this year. From highs and lows, tears of joy, relief, fear, sadness, & gratitude were shed by us this year. I won't get too wordy here because you've all lived this year with us!
We rang in the New Year at the Larkin's house this year. It was a fun party! We had a white elephant gift exchange and Corbett ended up with a bunny cake pan. We've made one bunny cake and I've been asked several more times if we can make bunny cakes.

Corbett couldn't be happier with his gift!

Thanks a lot Sandra!  I got even...I had Corbett call Sandra and ask her to decorate his bunny cake!

Sweetheart!

You have to have some of these at any white elephant gift exchange...Payton wears them with STYLE!

Cody got a figurine shaped like the pinata on Napoleon Dynamite!

Many of the party-goers!
