Brigham City Temple Open House

We had the neat opportunity to attend the Brigham City Temple Open House.  It is beautiful! What a great experience for our kids, and for us to be in the Temple with them.  We feel blessed to have new (and old) Temples all around us!

Top of Utah Half Marathon

Cody and I both ran the Top of Utah Half Marathon last Saturday!  It was one of the funnest races yet!  That might have something to do with Cody and I both getting our personal best times in a half!  Before this year I always said "someday" I will run a half marathon in under 2  hours.  Earlier this summer I ran a half in 1:59:50.  I made my goal by 10 SECONDS!  I was thrilled but I figured I would never PR (personal record) again.  At the Top of Utah half I ran 1:57:16!  I was thrilled.  Cody also got a major PR.  I think his best time until this race was around 1:42 and he ran the Top of Utah in 1:38.  Racing is something we both really enjoy (I should clarify though that we aren't really racing, just participating).  Lately we have done a lot of running with a group of runners called the "Nibley Runners".  They are all people from Nibley who get together on Fridays and Saturdays for a run down the canyon or even just support each other on our Facebook group.  Before the Top of Utah we had a pre-race dinner with over 100 people (runners and their families) at Heritage Park.  It was a lot of fun and got us all pumped up for the race!

First Day of First Grade!

Corbett started the first grade this week!  He loves school so it is fun to send him, but I think he will need some time to get used to a full day of school.  His teacher is Mrs. Dahle. We are so proud of Corbett.  He is such a good kid.  On the first day he woke up and got all dressed right away and then came in the kitchen and said, "Mom, I admire you all of the time!"  That's just Corbett for you!  I love it!  Today I told Corbett to eat his breakfast because it had learning power and concentration power.  He said, "protein."  I said, "yes, AND protein."  Corbett said, "no, JUST protein."  He cracks me up!
He rides his bike to school with some neighbor kids, he is getting TOO big!  He was excited to get a new bike and helmet for the school year!

LAGOON!!

When I ran the Star Valley Half Marathon I won tickets to Lagoon!  My niece also won tickets for their family to go to Lagoon so we used them last Saturday!  We left the babies with Sandra for a few hours and we took the Larkin's kids and Corbett on some of the big rides.  We had to trick Carson into going on Wicked.  He was dead set against going on Wicked so we told him we would go on "Clock Tower" instead.  Cody just made that name up and we went on Wicked.  Carson loved it and half way through the day we told him we were mistaken and we must have gone on Wicked.  Corbett loved all the rides, especially the Colossus.  After the twins got there we took turns hanging out with them in Kiddie Land.  They LOVED LOVED LOVED Lagoon!

Sorensen Family Pictures

We had the whole Kim Sorensen Family together for a few days so we took the opportunity to take some family pictures.  They turned out pretty good for how well the kids were cooperating!  Below, Grandma and Grandpa with the grandkids.
We tried for a little family picture but once again, the twins were less than helpful!
And we took the pictures by some water so no surprise, Kennedy pushed her luck until she fell right in!

Grandpa with Kadence & Kennedy
Corbett with one of his favorite cousins, Jack
Weston was so cute with Kennedy and walked her back to the car...
It was nice to see the whole family, Cody's brother Travis is being deployed to Afghanistan this Fall (plus they live in Washington) and Heidi and Jared are going to live in Washington from Virginia, so this family doesn't see each other all that often.

EPIC!!

Last weekend we ran a race called the Cache-Teton Epic.  It's a 205 mile 12-person relay from Cache Valley to Jackson Hole.  It was AWESOME!!  We had the best time!  Above we are at the start line with van 1.  We ran it in 30 hours and 49 minutes.   Below, Natalie and Kendra (the teenagers of the team) were both in our van and were a lot of fun!
Cody about to start his first run...

Me and Natalie (my  niece)

I love this picture, makes me laugh very time!
We loved having Rob, Annai, and their daughter Kendra in our van!!
The pass-off from Cody to Natalie...
And from me to Rob...
We have no pictures of our second leg because it was the middle of the night, and the first few runners ran through rain and lightning!  Below, the Smiths waiting for me on my last leg.  It was a beautiful run, however it was 8.5 miles of running along the Snake River right where people river raft down the Hoback, and there were plenty of people in the water.  I wanted to jump in SO BAD!

Almost done...

Annai is all done with her legs!
One more mile and Van 1 is done!  Now we just have to wait for van 2.
We made a tunnel for Kelly to bring it home!
At the finish line!!  Loved this race, loved this team!!

Visit from Heidi & Jared!

Cody's sister and her husband came and stayed with us for a few days.  They brought their cute little boy, Thorin.  They also have a baby on the way!  We had a lot of fun with them playing at the park and relaxing.
