Happy Birthday to Corbett! I hope it was a happy one for him because he got spoiled rotten! I thought about titling this post "the birthday that wouldn't end!" So we are of course very proud of our little 5-year-old. He is such a great kid. He is into asking a lot of questions lately, trying to figure things out. He loves superheroes, and of course he is one, you know. He's an excellent big brother and seldom has to be reminded how to interact with the babies. He is so helpful! If you've ever cooked for him you know he is the all time BEST compliment-giver. He pours it on THICK. Anything you make is the best food he's ever had. He always remembers to say things like "these sure are good sandwiches," or "you make the best pancakes ever!" Now whether or not he actually eats the food is a whole other matter. We are just enjoying these years when he still thinks we're cool and is still sweet and loving toward us.
So for the birthday celebration...because he turned 5 this year he got to start off with a vacation to Salt Lake to Build-A-Bear with his Grandma & Grandpa Sorensen. They stayed in a hotel and got to swim, play cards, and go to Build-A-Bear!! He made a Kung Fu Panda bear named Po, complete with soccer shoes, a snowboard, helmet, karate clothes, and a backpack to carry him in. He had a blast! Thanks Kim & Susan!!!

Sunday we had a family party with my family (the usual...cake and ice cream, crowded house, etc.)
Monday was his actual birthday. I had decided I would let him have a friend party this year but the time got away from me so on Saturday afternoon I decided I was not going to get invitations out and I just made phone calls to all the boys' parents to invite them to his party. At that point I knew there would be a party but had no plan for the party. We asked Corbett what kind of cake he wanted and he said a fireman cake. So from there I asked for party ideas from my sister who suggested getting all the "loot" from the fire station such as hats, stickers, and coloring books. However it turned out when she made a phone call to her friend whose husband works at the fire station, we were able to sign up for a tour of the fire station. So off we went Monday afternoon, after having a piece of pizza we loaded up 12 boys (and Sarah) and headed to the fire station. Afterward we came back to the house for ice cream and cake (and presents) and called it a party. I can't believe it all came together so well at the last minute. Corbett loved the fire station (Corbett's Grandma Sorensen is SUPER cool because she is an EMT in Rigby and goes with the fire trucks all the time, I think he pictures her climbing up tall buildings and single-handedly extinguishing fires while saving everyone!)

The party went on...that evening Corbett's Grandma and Grandpa Thorson took him to out to dinner (as a tradition each year!). It was a crazy fun birthday! Can't believe he's 5!
