Cherry Hill!

We took a trip to Cherry Hill this week!  Cody had a few days off work and didn't want to waste them so we decided to head for the water slides!  It was a BLAST!  We took the twins down all the slides.  We even took them on Cardiac Canyon...you have to have your own tube on that one so we didn't know how it would go but the twins did good and Konrad insisted on going on it again.  Corbett was scared to go down slides at first but after some serious bribery, bargaining, and threats he agreed to try each slide at least once.  Of course he loved them all and went down as many times and he possibly could!

Treasure Hunt

 Because of the snow storm at our Thorson family reunion this year we didn't get the send the kids on their usual treasure hunt.  For my mom's birthday she invited us all over for a barbeque and let the kids go on their hunt.  As you can see above, my parents new house has an amazing view.  Eric is taking the younger boys on their hunt.  Below, Kennedy and Konrad looking for a clue in the garden.  It was a lot of fun!

Star Valley Half Marathon

I got the opportunity to go run the Star Valley Half Marathon this weekend!  I left the kids and Cody at home and we made it a girls trip with my sister, Sandra, and her daughter, Natalie..  We were lucky to have some friends let us stay in their cabin.  The race was awesome.  The weather was perfect.  Both Sandra and Natalie got their personal best times.  I was happy with my race though I missed my PR by a few minutes.  I ran it in 2:01:59.  It was a tough race and I questioned my sanity around mile 8.  When the race is over you feel so happy though it is all worth it!  Race day is like Christmas morning to me!  We also aren't complaining that both Natalie and I won 5 tickets to Lagoon...so LAGOON, here we come!  It was a nice break from the kids though I was happy to see them when I got home!

Bear Lake

 We like to go to Bear Lake around the 4th of July every year.  My family makes a huge sand sculpture every year.  This year Grant had the idea to make a tarp into a form for a taller sculpture.  It seemed like a good plan, at least it was fun to find out what would happen...

 Just so you know Grant (above) who is an engineer by trade came up with our design...

 And yet when we were nearly finished filling it up with sand it all came crashing down.  There was enough sand piled up still to make this lighthouse...

 At least until that fell apart.  We never did have a complete project this year.

 Kennedy and Konrad had a lot of fun the second half of the day.  The first half Konrad had sunscreen in his eyes and Kennedy enjoyed throwing several tantrums.

 Corbett had a blast.  We rarely saw him the whole day.  He is at a good age for this!

Trip to Idaho!

We went to Idaho for a few days last week to see Cody's parents.  While we were there we went to Rigby Lake and played in the water.  We also had a lot of fun on the paddle boat.  I was surprised how brave the twins were in the water.

Spartan Race - The BEAST!

Cody has been looking into the Spartan Races for quite a while now.  He loves talking about all the things they do on those races...crazy stuff!  This week he has been on a work trip to New Hampshire.  When he was getting on his last leg of his plane ride home he spotted a guy wearing a Spartan sweatshirt.  He approached the guy and asked if he ran those races and what he thought of them.  Of course the guy thought they were GREAT because as it turned out he was the owner of the Spartan Race Series.  Cody had let him know how interested in them he was and the guy told him to come run it...the next morning!  Cody called us around 7:30 pm to see if it was okay.  We headed for the airport to pick him up, got there at midnight, and headed to a hotel in Park City for the night (The race was near Heber City).  As you can see, the kids slept well...(it had been a long week and I think everyone had some sleep to catch up on!)

Well, everyone but Konrad.  Lucky me, he woke up bright and early!

Cody's race was a 12-mile race full of obstacles and challenges (he threw a spear, rolled through mud under barbed wire, shot a pellet gun, climbed rope, hauled rocks and sand bags, jumped through tractor tires with his legs bound together, among lots of other things!)  It took him about 2 hours 47 minutes.  He was REALLY happy he got to do this.  It's one of those things on his "bucket list".  When we were checking out the race we saw there was a Kid's Spartan Race that Corbett could do so we entered him in that.  Below, Corbett and Konrad before his race...

We had no idea when to expect Cody at the finish line.  He couldn't carry a phone (which wouldn't have mattered anyway because Kennedy thought the toilet would be the perfect place to dump Cody's phone!) so we didn't know where/how we would find each other.  Luckily though, Cody finished just as Corbett's heat took off and Cody made it over to the Kid's Race and found us just in time to cheer him on through the whole course.  I don't know if that meant more to Corbett or Cody!

Corbett was pretty excited about his medal!  He had to over, under and through several obstacles.  It was a lot of fun for him.  He didn't care for being dirty though...
