just waiting!

We haven't been doing too many blog-worthy activities so it's been a while... It seems like I'm just waiting for these babies to get here so I can 1) have my body back and 2) stop sleeping for the next year! We're glad to report things are moving along great with the pregnancy. There are no foreseeable problems and the babies are growing just like they should. We're planning to deliver around May 6th. This is an ultrasound of our girl, Kennedy. They couldn't get our boy to look so unfortunately I have no pictures of his face. I do have a picture that shows their heads are right together for now. We have decided to name them Kennedy & Konrad after all. Still waiting to get the rest of the sewing done and can't wait to post pictures of the nursery after that!
Our weeks seem to be all the same for the most part lately. Corbett has preschool 3 days a week and he is reading some words now! Cody has basketball on Thursday nights with the ward and he loves to play! Cody and Corbett spend EVERY Saturday at the ski hill. I spend every Saturday shopping, cleaning, and helping with Young Women's basketball games. Cody has been diligently getting into shape, running home from work several nights. He is running the Wasatch Back and hopefully a marathon this summer. The weather is getting nicer and we are trying to go outside for a little bit each day for exercise and fresh air. I took a photography class every Thursday but that is over now. We'll see if I do any better in my picture-taking skills! We're fighting off colds (and sinus infection for me) at our house, hopefully we've got it beat! They split our ward yesterday...not good! I don't mind the split too much, I have friends on both sides and am happy about keeping some and sad to lose the others. The part I'm not happy about is that we now go to church at 2:30 pm and get out at 5:30 pm. We also go to a building that's not in our stake, it's the building Cody and I used to go to in our old house. So that's about it for our month, not much to tell!
Corbett is always funny though! Saturday after skiing he dragged out the cooler they had taken to the ski hill that day. I asked him what he was doing, his reply, "I'm trying to get some dinner!" So now you know he is neglected and feels he has to find his own dinner!

Once there was a snowman!

Corbett has been begging for a while to build a snowman. Unfortunately there hasn't been a great day for it. The other day I decided that was the day! We had been saving a carrot in our fridge that Cody's mom gave us out of her garden this summer just for the occasion. It was a really warm day so the snowmen melted within a couple hours but it was a lot of FUN! We also built forts and threw some snowballs at each other.

Projects

So you might already know I'm always in the middle of one project or another. We've been trying to get a room ready for our twins. Ever since I found out what gender they are I've put it into overdrive. Cody has been such a good sport about it! He's really letting me have my fun! We had to finish a room downstairs for my office so we could put the babies upstairs. We started a room about a year ago but hadn't gotten that far on it. We recently finished it and were able to paint the babies room. My mom is helping me work on bedding for the twins. She's very talented! I'll keep that for another post though, when the room is all put together. Here are some pictures of the room downstairs. My sister's son, Payton, had to do a family service project for scouts. Luckily we were already planning to have her husband, Joe, install the carpet. Their family came and helped with the final painting, installed the carpet, and emptied my office from upstairs to downstairs all in one night! It was REALLY helpful! I'm so happy to have my office downstairs because it seems to be the hardest room to keep clean! Here's Samantha helping with the painting. The boys' job was to carry load after load from upstairs to downstairs. They said I had more stuff than anyone EVER! Luckily I've since de-junked and got rid of a lot of that stuff!

Happy Birthday Corbett!

It's a little past Corbett's birthday but I haven't had Internet since he had his 4 year birthday so I hope I can remember all the fun! He got spoiled, it seems like that always happens. The Friday before his birthday Grandma & Grandpa Sorensen came to town. They gave him a few presents he could open early that evening. Here's Corbett with his grandpa Sorensen.The next morning Kiel and Jen arrived with their kids. We all headed to the ski hill. Before we left we had him open his much anticipated ski poles. That was all he wanted for his birthday really. Jen, Cody, Corbett, & Kim all skied/snowboarded and the rest of us hung out in the lodge and watched them come down the mountain every so often. It was a GREAT time! We came home and went to Firehouse for dinner. After dinner we had some brownies and icecream and sang to Corbett. He opened up a few more presents (yes the presents just kept coming!). Kim & Susan headed home and we played some games with Kiel & Jen and then they also headed home. It was a lot of fun! Unfortunately I had messed with the settings on my camera (I'm taking a photography class) and most of my pictures from the party didn't turn out.
Sunday was his actual birthday. He was so excited they sang to him in primary. He thinks they "picked" him finally. He's been raising his hand every chance he gets just to be picked (he's that kid). After church we let him open a gift from us. It was a Buzz Lightyear, only I accidentally pushed a button through the wrapping and Buzz started talking so Corbett immediately knew what it was. He was so excited!
That evening my family came. Corbett wanted a superhero birthday so I told my family to have their young kids dress up as superheroes. For Corbett's birthday I made him a batman/superman cape. Most of my siblings have them from years ago but Corbett didn't have one yet. I was pretty proud of my sewing!Flying superheroes! (Corbett, Carson, & Ryan)Superman and Lois Lane! (My cute niece Sarah and nephew Anhder)It was quite interesting to say the least. Some adults came as superheroes, one child came as a football player (he must have thought it was a Halloween party). At any rate Corbett was happy with his party. I even made him a Batman cake! So that was fun too! The party didn't stop there...on Monday my mom & dad came to take Corbett to lunch. My mom takes all the grandkids to lunch for their birthdays & it turned out my dad could make it too. We're amazed he is already 4 years old. We love him so much, he brings so much joy to Cody and I.
A few things about Corbett:
Food: Corbett likes water A LOT! No matter what the other choice is chances are he'll pick water to drink! He eats a lot of different foods. He likes candy (don't know where he got that, wink wink). He likes french fries and cheetos!
Toys: He loves to play with dinosaurs, cars, superheroes, lincoln logs, and play dough.
Clothes: He loves to wear a shirt with a superhero on it or a jersey for a sport. He loves his transformer pajamas, batman and superman pj's (which are WAY too small).
Personality: Corbett's a pretty serious kid. He's smart and catching on to things quickly. He has a great memory. I'm always told he is NOT normal by my family because he is so clean and not destructive. (they're all rooting for my twins to turn my house upside down!) He tells me he loves me constantly. He says the cutest prayers and prays for us to "have a great family all the time" at least 5 times at night. He's sensitive, very concerned when a bad guy is on his show and so happy when the hero saves the day. He loves to wrestle with Cody and gives me lots of loves. (he's planning to marry me) He's excited for the babies, but doesn't fully understand what's about to happen to his attention! He likes to pretend he has dogs in his tummy like I have babies in mine. I was using it against him to get him to eat healthy foods, i.e. "my babies need a carrot" and of course his dogs suddenly need a carrot too. That backfired though because now his dogs will randomly "need" candy or cookies. He's definitely unique!

Life

The most exciting thing that's happened lately is that we had an ultrasound and found out we're having a BOY & and GIRL!!! We're so excited! That's what I hoped it was. So now I'm bugging Cody to name them, I think they will be named Kennedy & Konrad. I've been doing a lot of shopping, but mostly window shopping. I bought some fabric and my mom is helping me make some bedding for the nursery. My cousin offered us her cribs from her twins, very generous, so we went to Layton and picked those up. Now I'm just waiting for the room to be ready so I can put it all together! We have a room in the basement ALMOST ready for my office to move down so I can turn my office into the babies' room! Can't wait for that, I've got the paint picked out and everything! We're so excited!
I was released from my calling as enrichment leader on Sunday. That's a relief to me. I was definitely burnt out on it. Can't wait to attend relief society nights as a GUEST!! I am still in the Stake womens' athletics, but maybe not for long?? I've signed up for a photography class in Brigham City for 5 weeks starting this Thursday. That will be fun to learn more about my camera and perhaps take better pictures! Cody has taken a new position at work (sort of) and won't be traveling as much, hopefully only for trade shows. We're keeping our fingers crossed that it will be a good move!
So now for the only event I have pictures of...the Treehouse Museum. We went there last year and this was our second trip. We went for Toddler Time (by accident). The benefit was that it was cheaper, however it only gives you 2 hours to be there. I was okay with that though. By the time the two hours were up I was exhausted and glad for a good excuse to go home. Not only am I rapidly growing and getting more tired by the minute, I've been trying to fight off a cold (along with Cody and Corbett but I'm the worst one). We did have fun there though, I think Corbett could stay there for a month and still be entertained. Here's some pictures of the event. We went with Rhonda, Sandra, Camie Jo, and all their kids.

Bring on 2010!

Happy New Year! We rang in the New Year at my sister Rhonda's house. The whole family was there this year. We did stay up until midnight but we are definitely getting old and the adults were not as lively as we used to be! Most people were just looking for a quiet place to take a nap!
This was a great year...with a few exceptions. Grant and Erica welcomed Taylor Jane into their family in January and finalized the adoption and sealing in August! Kiel and Jen had their second baby, a girl name Kadence, in June! We found out in September that we were expecting and in October that we are having twins! Corbett started preschool this year in September and has learned all his letters. We celebrated our 10-year anniversary in May by taking a cruise to the Bahamas and spending time in Florida at SeaWorld when the cruise ended! We were also able to travel to Colorado twice, the WAC basketball tournament in Reno, and California (spending time on Catalina Island)! Cody and I both ran a half marathon in Rexburg in June, (not my best race...but an accomplishment still) and Cody ran the Wasatch Back, also in June! In July we backpacked as a family into the Uintas - 8 miles in and in August Cody hiked the Grand Teton. Cody started taking Corbett skiing in December and he has been a quick study. Cody is very proud and excited about this! Indeed it was an eventful year, and a good one for us. I've got a few resolutions this year but our main one is to make it to church ON TIME! For some reason that's a struggle for us! Happy New Year to all of you. We're blessed with great family and friends!

Christmas 2009!

What a great Christmas we had!! Corbett made it so much fun! Cody took Wednesday off work and took Corbett skiing up at Beaver. This is Corbett's cousin Zach helping him onto the magic carpet. Zach helped Corbett all day! Cody and Corbett both have season passes so it should be a good year for them. Corbett did great. Cody says he feels like a fish out of water because he has been a snowboarder for so long and now he's skiing to help Corbett. While they were skiing I had time to myself so I finished up shopping and cleaned the house.

We went to Idaho to Cody's parents house for Christmas this year. We left early Thursday morning. One of the highlights for Corbett was going to the fire station in Rigby to see the fire trucks (where Cody's mom does EMT call)! Talk about heaven for a little boy! Corbett got to see a lot of different fire trucks! Here he is again with Grandma & Grandpa. They have a lot of fire hoses! While we were there we had such good food (I even made tiny spicy chicken for Christmas Eve)! We played games and visited and then on Christmas Eve we opened small presents from each other. We read the Christmas story from the bible. We also put reindeer food out and Corbett was so excited because it was very obvious there had been some reindeer there sticking their noses in the snow and eating the food he left for them! Cody's dad had to work on Christmas Eve at 7pm until the morning at 7:30am. We tried to keep Corbett up late so he'd sleep in, but against all odds (Corbett is a big sleeper) he woke up 10 minutes before Kim got home, it all worked out though and Kim was there when he came in the livingroom to see if Santa came. We enjoyed opening presents and seeing Corbett's reaction to his presents. We had a nice Turkey dinner at Cody's grandma's house which is connected to his parents house. Of course they had a game for us to play as well! I don't think I've ever been so content with a Christmas season! Saturday Cody and Corbett went skiing again and this time I went to watch. It was great fun to see Corbett ski! Here he is on the magic carpet with Cody. At first he had a meltdown and I thought we wouldn't get him in his skiis at all. He recovered luckily and had a good day of it. Tammy's kids were there and they stuck close by Corbett and helped him all day. They wouldn't leave his side. This has been a good year for us. We've been very blessed! Our twins are starting to kick me every so often and we'll find out in a week what they are! I couldn't ask for more this Christmas season!!
