Corbett had a pretty good birthday this year! It started with my mom's new tradition of having one birthday party a month for all the birthdays in that month. Corbett and Taylor are the only January birthdays and Taylor couldn't make it so Corbett had one very large party at my mom's house on Sunday. My mom even made him a basketball cake and put out a birthday sign for him! Thanks Mom!
My whole family was there...with the exception of Grant's family.
Next we had a "surprise" party for him on Wednesday (the day before his birthday). He informed us he "knew" we were going to have a surprise party for him this year so I thought I'd better not disappoint. This was a very last minute thing. We just called a few friends and cousins a few hours before the party and luckily they were all able to make it!
We had a Captain America themed party because his present from us was a Captain America costume and shield.
We let the boys make their own pizzas. Other than that they just had ice cream and cake and goofed around in the basement and played Kinect.
We love Corbett SO much! We are so proud of this sweet young man!
On Corbett's birthday we didn't have time to eat the cake, plus it was VERY large so after school on Friday we had the kids from the cul-de-sac over to help take care of the cake. It was a lot of fun to have them all over.
A few things about Corbett...
1. Corbett is VERY sweet and VERY complimentary. You can not "out-compliment" him. It just won't happen!
2. Corbett loves his mom (especially) and his family. He constantly tells us how much!
3. Corbett is really nice to his brother and sister usually. There are times when the little boy in him comes out and he likes to make them scream.
4. Corbett is very sensitive and tender.
5. Corbett loves being social. He likes to go to art club, he does sports for the friends, he wants to join and participate in anything and everything!
6. Corbett is a great reader.
7. Corbett STILL loves water.
8. Favorite dinner is tiny spicy chicken
9. Corbett hates to sleep in his bed. He always asks to sleep on the floor, and he prefers our floor or the babies' floor.
10. Corbett loves to watch Johnny Test.
Happy Birthday Corbett! We love you!

Snow Day!
I love snow days! The kids got a chance a few weeks back to go play in the snow! It's been red air and an inversion and freezing temperatures ever since so I'm not loving the snow right now because we can't do anything with it.

Random
We are always up to something around here, or at least Kennedy is! She is into climbing into cupboards lately. She was all the way in this lazy Susan cupboard believe it or not! We often think Kennedy had to be a twin so Konrad could watch out for her. He is constantly coming to tattle on her when she is trying to climb in the fridge or dryer. A little scary, so we've found if Konrad comes to tattle on Kennedy we go RUNNING!
When Corbett walked out all ready for church on Sunday I took a double take! He is growing into such a handsome little man! The picture doesn't do him justice. Could this really be my little 6-year-old boy??
Kennedy and Konrad, quite the team! Below, Superman and Strawberry Shortcake...Partners in crime for sure!

Happy New Year!
The Bensons hosted our New Years party this year. It was a lot of fun. We played Blokus, 3D Tetris, and Ticket to Ride. The kids played in the basement and had a lot of fun with cousins. Below, Kennedy with Taylor and Sarah. Sarah was having a dilemma with which team to join in the boy's game... Cute little girls!
Little Rascals! Carson, Coleman, Corbett, Ryan, Anhder, & Emery...
Cody...
Here's to hoping for another good year!

Merry Christmas 2013!
We had such a good Christmas! On Christmas Eve we opened one present, an addition to the race track we set up last year on Christmas Eve. It was fun setting it up again and adding on so it was huge! The kids had fun playing games together and wrestling until we made them all go to bed. I thought Corbett would not be able to sleep but he was out cold in less than 10 minutes.
Santa Claus came...
On Christmas morning Cody and I were way more anxious than the kids. We had to wake them up at 8:45 and even then Corbett wanted to go back to sleep. He was sure excited when we finally got him out of bed though!
Kennedy and Konrad were excited for their bikes!

Sledding Off the Deck!
We promised the kids we would take them sledding on Christmas Eve, however the roads were terrible to we (I) thought up this idea to pile some snow on the steps of the deck and make our own sledding hill. It worked pretty well and the kids had a fun time! (Except for Konrad who was cold as soon as he stepped outside and went back inside. He did join in the fun eventually, after everyone else had called it quits!) It was AWESOME to have so much snow for Christmas!
Thorson Family Christmas Party
We had our Thorson Family Christmas Party at a church this year. We had Maddox cater the dinner! It was delicious! Sandra was in charge of the party and she arranged some games in the gym for the kids. They had a "snowball fight" and played Minute To Win It games. It was a lot of fun. We also played some basketball in the gym and the grandkids exchanged gifts.

I love this picture below because we are so blessed to have all these cousins surround our kids. They take such good care of our kids and show so much interest in them.
Corbett opening his gift...
We had Nathan's name this year. I asked his mom for ideas and she said he had a Reese's candy bar on his Christmas list. We bought him several kinds of Reese's candy bars and wrapped them all separately. It was a lot of fun and he appreciated the gift!
We also had Brandon's name and so we made him something to hang his medals on...
This was Taylor's gift but Kennedy loved wearing it around. She also loved making sure NO ONE else touched her gift.
After the party Grant and Erica came to stay overnight. We had to get pictures in the matching P.J.'s that all the grandkids got!
